For those who are planning to have an experience of challenging ventures, Sagada, a town in the Cordillera Mountains will be the number one site on your list!
Sagada has a rich culture. The indigenous people or the Igorot people of Sagada are very hospitable and helpful especially to tourists and wanderers visiting their town. They are fiercely proud of their traditions and have fought hard to keep them intact, especially now that the Philippines is becoming more Americanized. The way we eat, we talk, what we buy is farly different from what we are before when we are still true Filipinos at heart.
A trip to Sagada is worth the long hours of bus ride, extreme body pains, and the scary mountain-side road that you need to pass before you can have a glimpse of its wonderful eye-catching sceneries of waterfalls, rice terraces, caves and sunset in Kiltepan.
Here are some of the tremendous yet worth packing for activities and attractions of Sagada.
1. The Hanging Coffins

A lot of people trek up to Sagada to witnessed the famous hanging coffins because it is a bit weird yet a very unique way to preserve and bury their dead by hanging the wooden coffins in the cliffs and the entrance of the caves. This boxes is not just a box containing dead persons, it has a deeper meaning that is still engraved in these boxes and they are still carrying it until now. The long coffins hanging were the people that converted to Christian and are still holding to their beliefs
2. Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is one of the very hazardous and strenous activities in Sagada, maybe for me, because I tried it once, in Dreamplay and I nearly had 5 steps when I decided that I can’t do it. But this is a great experience and the fulfillment that you’ll experience when you are on top of the rock is a very great feeling! It’s like you’ve conquered the greatest fears of your life!
3. Underground Caves
Luming Cave – Sumaguing Cave

Seeing what is beneath the caves makes me curious. A picturesque rock formations that you can take as many pictures as you want, take a swim and relax on the chilly rivers, have a jump on the rapelling down waterfalls are very exciting activities, but there is some back-breaking pathways like squeezing yourself to fit in the small openings of the cave.

If you are afraid that you’ll be lost in the caves, you can hire tour guides within a really cheap price that can help you and give you some tips in what to do and where to go in the caves.

4. Rice Terraces

5. Kiltepan’s Sunset

After all the tiring activities, we will wait for the sunset in Kiltepan Viewpoint. Thanks to the romantic comedy movie, “That Thing Called Tadhana” starred by Angelica Panganiban and Jm de Guzman, It became a hotspot for Filipino tourists who wants to visit places that played a role in a movie.
Sagada can be your getaway experience from all the workloads and stress that you are facing in the city. Pack your things now and get ready to have an exciting adventures to the mountains of the North!
